When a trailer is hooked up the system automatically turns off but not with the camper. Did some research and one solution was a Tekonsha Emulator which is basicly a test light for the seven way plug which includes a trailer brake control tester. The emulator tricks the truck into thinking there is a trailer connected.

The dealer said NO NO NO don't take the caps off when charging. Just for laughs I asked several other dealers. They all said the same thing. Now if you insist on trickling, and thus keeping the acid boiling all the time, then maybe you should check weekly for fluid loss, whether you use the caps or not.

Alternate methods are to use a heat gun and scraper, or to use what is called an eraser wheel. The wheel is what a lot of professional shops use. It is rubber wheel that goes on a drill motor and rubs off the old decals. No matter what method you use to get the old stuff off you are going to be left with some adhesive residue.

Because the camper hangs off the rear of a short bed truck, Palomino used that space for additional storage compartments.
